The Slow Death of Hockey Night in Canada
criticallycanuck: In the lead up to this past Saturday’s Hockey Night in Canada (HNIC) broadcast, the CBC promoted the Leafs vs. Canadiens and Oilers vs. Flames match-ups as two epic rivalries.  Yes, another night of can’t miss viewing from the national broadcaster.  Meanwhile, another key Canucks’ game (this time a rematch of last year’s Western Conference final) went ignored. And paired with...

A Three Part (so far) Profile of Anonymous.... →
It wasn’t until I downloaded and listened to Lulz: A corruption of LOL‘s second album, Corruption, that I grasped what Anonymous really is. It’s a culture. It takes cultures to have albums, idioms, and iconography, and I was swimming in these and more. Anonymous is a nascent and small culture, but one with its own aesthetics and values, art and literature, social norms and ways of...

What happens when the Doctor runs out of...
Audience Member: This question for Mr. Moffat. How are you going to keep doing the regenerations because, the Doctor is only supposed to have 12 and he's used them all up apart from that last one.
Moffat: First of all, he can regenerate 12 times and that would mean there would be 13 Doctors. What we'll do in the event that we reach that point, and we've had 13 Doctors, there's this emergency BBC protocol. We will....make something up.

The Homeway Restaurant
On Sunday The Woman and I experienced the polar opposite of our Milestones dining experience while out on our weekly grocery shop. We stopped in at The Homeway Restaurant at the corner of Mount Pleasant & Erskine (in the Yonge/Eglinton area) for a quick bit of “lunch-that’s-actually-breakfast-because-we-woke-up-at-noon-and-there’s-no-food-in-the-house.” It’s a hipster place,...

Milestones
On Friday night, The Woman* and I set out to the AMC Theatre out to see Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (which is great, by the way, you should see it!) but decided to have dinner before we met up with a friend to watch the show. We settled on the Milestones right across from the theatre. *Having just watched the first episode of the BBC’s Sherlock Series 2, with Irene Adler, my fiancee is now...
