Quick thoughts on comics: Green Lantern #1
I hate Green Lantern, specifically, the Hal Jordan Green Lantern, so let’s get that out of the way right now. But I promised myself that I’d give all the new DC #1s a shot, so here we are.
This book was okay. If I enjoyed it all in terms of Geoff Johns’s writing, it was because Hal Jordan was such a loser throughout it. But inevitably, he’ll be a hero again, but I won’t be around to see it. As this book has almost not rebooting or retconning, I don’t quite know what’s going on or why, and this issue doesn’t do a good job of bringing me up to speed.
The art, though, is great. I love Doug Mahnke and he knocks it out of the park with every page. I just hate the Mahnke is kicking ass on a book that I have no interest in reading.
