Donburi Boy

Quick thoughts on comics: Superboy #1
This was another pleasant surprise for me, since this book had a lot going against it coming in. In the last ten years, Superboy’s largely been written by Geoff Johns, who I don’t like, and his adventures tied heavily into the Teen Titans, which is a franchise that I also don’t really enjoy. His current book is written by Scott Lobdell, who I also don’t really care for.
But this book was a neat little sci-fi book. I don’t know if it’s a complete retcon or not, but there were enough little mysteries to keep me turning the page, and I think Caitlin Fairchild is a character, which tickles my inner WildStorm fan.
R.B. Silva’s art is also really nice, it handles all the sci-fi stuff really well, and I think would be able to handle any superhero stuff that might pop up later.
While it didn’t blow me away like Swamp Thing or Animal Man or Action Comics, Superboy entertained me enough to keep reading, and has raised my expectation of Lobdell’s other DC works, Teen Titans and Red Hood.
