Quick thoughts on comics: Superman #1
Man, what a boring issue! I like George Perez’s art, but his writing does nothing for me. It was a dense read, which is actually kind of refreshing, since there’s a lot of needlessly padded out stories sometimes, but it was still a bit much. I’ve never really been a huge Superman fan so a lot of the changes to the status quo don’t mean anything to me.
The art by Perez and Jesus Merino is pretty good, but again gives off that soothing retro vibe that seems to exist in the new DC universe to calm upset middle aged fanmen.
I really enjoyed flashback Action Comics story and was hoping that some of the changes would translate into the “present day” stories, but sadly, it looks like Superman will get boring again when he grows up.
