Quick thoughts on comics: Voodoo #1
Here’s an odd little book. Ron Marz has crafted a story around Priscilla Kitaen, a stripper with the stage name Voodoo, only, while she’s the protagonist of the book, she’s also the target of the “good guys”. It’s got kind of a monster movie vibe going for it. It’s almost like a more tasteful version of Species. Quite a departure from Voodoo’s previous incarnation in the WildStorm Universe.
Sami Basri is another artist, who like Catwoman artist Guillem March has a really clean style, almost European erotica style, but at least this comic takes place in a strip club, so it’s a little more… appropriate?
I am going to give it another issue or two to see where it goes. Definitely a departure, definitely not terrible, but not an instant classic, either.
